Next it'll be Greg McElroy at a Rangers game. One week after greeting Tim Tebow with a Bronx cheer at Yankee Stadium , New York sports fans showered boos upon Jets starting quarterback Mark Sanchez at Wednesday night's Knicks game. Santonio Holmes was sitting next to Sanchez courtside but it ruins the narrative if we assume some of the boos were directed toward his 2011 outbursts. Both players laughed off the boos, which is healthy, seeing as how Sanchez should be expecting them at MetLife Stadium the first time he goes three-and-out in September. [ Yahoo! Sports Shop: Buy NFL gear ] The quarterback and receiver had a contentious public relationship last season, with Holmes, a captain, getting benched late in the season for fighting with his teammates during a game. Earlier in the year, Holmes criticized the team's offense. They've been trying to mend the relationship during the offseason. Sanchez sent Santonio a Valentine's message on Twitter. Despite that, they were not shown on the Kiss Cam at the Knicks game. Antonio Cromartie was also sitting with his Jets teammates but wasn't shown at that time on the Jumbotron, presumably because MSG officials didn't want to risk the impregnation of game attendees.
It's highly unlikely that New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez will ever become a two-time Super Bowl champion, but his stats through the first three years of his career compare quite favorably to New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning.
When the New York Jets traded for former Denver Broncos QB Tim Tebow, they emphasized that he would be the backup QB to Mark Sanchez. However, it appears that the Jets were not just looking at Tebow as a QB, but as a true football player and an addition to their offensive line.
After a brutal final three games of the 2011 regular season, Mark Sanchez desperately needs to get off to a fast start this year to hang onto his role as the starting quarterback job for the New York Jets.
Since the New York Jets traded for Tim Tebow in March, Mark Sanchez will be feeling the pressure to get off to a fast start in 2012. After three seasons in New York, where does Sanchez rank among the top ten Jets quarterbacks of all-time?
NEW YORK (AP) Tim Tebow, Mark Sanchez and the New York Jets will make four prime-time television appearances this season, including a Thanksgiving night matchup at home against the AFC East-rival New England Patriots.
It's amazing how the media can sculpt an athlete's public image.
According to a Yahoo! Sports report, Rick's Cabaret, a Manhattan-based strip club, offered Tim Tebow his first lap dance in the Big Apple.
Rex Ryan says that Mark Sanchez is the starting quarterback for the New York Jets. In the same breath, he says that Tim Tebow will play a significant role--taking as many as 20 snaps per game. If Rex is going to split playing time between the two quarterbacks he is going to run into problems. Giving Tebow upwards of a third of the snaps per game will require a third of the resources given to the starting quarterback to be given to Tim Tebow.
Can Tebowmania oust Mark Sanchez as the New York Jets' starting quarterback? It worked in Denver, when Tim Tebow played for the Denver Broncos, but Denver is not New York. The starting quarterback for the New York Jets is Mark Sanchez, and so far, no one from the Jets organization is saying anything different. If you compare the numbers, it makes sense to start Mark Sanchez.
