Protecting QB Mark Sanchez is one of the New York Jets' most important objectives, and they took two major steps on that front this week. The most obvious move was center Nick Mangold's seven-year contract extension, which could be worth as much as $55 million over seven years, including $22 million guaranteed. Also, Sanchez has been wearing a brace on his left knee each of the last two days in practice, and he admitted Tuesday he probably will wear it for the rest of his career.
