For the second consecutive week, the New York Jets delivered a weak exhibition performance -- this time in a game expected to be their dress rehearsal for the season. Particularly frightening, in addition to his inability to exploit the Washington Redskins on Friday, was a third-quarter hit taken by quarterback Mark Sanchez. "It's good. I just fell on it, it felt a little funny," Sanchez told CBS on the sidelines after he came out, wearing a wrap.

An NFL offensive line is made up of five individuals, but its success is measured as a group. A big reason why Sporting News picked the New York Jets to win Super Bowl 45 was their indisputable dominance up front. So not surprisingly, the team committed big money to its strength in the offseason. First, the Jets signed Pro Bowl left tackle D'Brickashaw Ferguson to a six-year, $60 million extension. Then just last week, All-Pro Nick Mangold received a seven-year, $55 million extension that made him the NFL's highest-paid center.

CHARLOTTE — Panthers quarterback Matt Moore's first-half performance in Saturday's 9-3 preseason loss to the New York Jets left Carolina fans with a similar uneasy feeling that came with the shaky end to the Jake Delhomme era. As for the feeling that Moore's grasp on the job might be slipping in favor of rookie second-round pick Jimmy Clausen, however, the veteran's peers were quick to show their faith in Moore as a passer and a leader.
